This article is from February.... 10 states with astronomical cell phone taxes- MSN Money. But here in Nebraska it says we have the highest wireless tax at 23.69%. When I try to figure out how much a cell phone plan will really cost I usually add $20 to it. I have the $69.99 plan, plus the $10 extra random charge, plus about $20 in taxes and fees. So I pay about $100. Before this random $10 Sprint pricing was pretty cheap but now if I wanted, say an iPhone, it's not really much more at ATT or Verizon. The article says Florida wireless tax is up there as well at 21.62%.

Edit: I tried editing my post but it wasn't working so I'll make a new one. I didn't realize the first post was a while ago, I'll have to take a closer look next time. I hope you were able to figure out your billing issues!

The base price of Sprint's plan is cheaper than Verizon or AT&T. Your taxes should be the same for any of the major carriers so the difference will be the same. Sprint is cheaper than any of the other major carriers. If you pay for unlimited text, and LIMITED data w/Verizon, your looking at over $100 before taxes. Verizon's talk and text plan is $79.99 for 900 mins of talk and unlimited text. That doesn't include data. Sprint has unlimited data and verizon has a cap.

Yes, sprint's plan is still cheaper than ATT or Verizon, even with the extra $10 charge. However it's not as much of a leap to pay $10 extra and go to ATT if I wanted one of their phones as opposed to the $20 extra it used to be. They may have limited data, but it can be debatable that they have better customer service. But that's a whole new thread.

AT&T probably has the worst customer service of the big carriers. Sprint has made big improvements in the customer service area. Everybody has had different experiences but reports show AT&T is lacking in the customer service area.
Consumer Reports cell-service Ratings: AT&T is the worst carrier
