HTC splash screen and redraw when exiting apps
Here's the problem:
Sometimes when I'm using an app, or occasionally the internet, and I hit the home button to end what I'm doing, the phone will immediately go to the splash screen that is white with the green HTC logo. The phone will then redraw/reload itself before it's able to be used. This process takes anywhere from a couple of seconds up to 10-12 seconds and it is annoying.
It happens while using a number of different apps, so I haven't isolated it to one program. I'm pretty certain it's a memory issue that causes the phone to shut down either the launcher or Sense but not positive. Every time I check the available memory, it shows as having plenty.
I have performed a factory reset, however, that did not resolve the issue.
My phone is not rooted and the problem has persisted across Froyo and now Gingerbread.
Anybody else having this problem? Any thoughts on how to go about diagnosing the issue?

The best way to exit the apps is to use the exit/end button in the app. Not all apps have an exit button so the next option is to use the back button. With Android, if you press the home key to exit, the app keeps running. The back button is what you should use and android will stop the app from running continuously and it will sit in the background if you need to access it again.

Thanks Jive,
So, this never used to happen. Can I assume this behavior is a side effect of having more apps on the phone and eventually there are too many running in the background? Or is it based on a specific combination of apps left running that eat up too much memory?
Just trying to understand exactly what's happening.
Again, thanks for your help.

That may or may not be the issue. It's hard to tell because everyone's phone is different.
I would also use an app called 1tap cache cleaner (free version) to clear out the cache on your phone. Also, are you using a task killer? If so, uninstall it. That may also be causing issues. Task killers aren't really needed

Thanks. I've installed the cache cleaner and I'll give it a try. I'm started exiting apps the way you described, the problem is less the last two days but has still happened a few times (much better than it was).
I don't have any task killers installed, but thanks for that tip. I think it is likely one of my apps not playing well with the phone that is causing my problems. The trick is going to be trying to diagnose the problem so I can figure out which one.
Thanks again for your help.

Im glad this was brought up.. i had the problem a little bit before the new 2.3 android update. Tolerable, so i didnt mind.. as soon as it switched to the 2.3, it happens with every app, downloaded or system app. Seems as if it happens whenever im in the app for longer then id say 2-3 minutes. If i hit back it happens, i hit home it happens.. just seems like its getting worse, any ideas? No task killer. Havent yet downloaded the cache app u mentioned tho which i will right after this. Even when i did a factory reset about a month or so ago, no difference. Which means it cant be started from an app ive downloaded from the market.

Hi!
I had a similar problem, it simply came from a home widget. I uninstalled it and everything went back to normal. The app was Simple Calendar Widget. Maybe try removing one by one the widgets on your main screen to see if there is any difference.
Good luck :-)
