Evo 2 - Android Gaming Console

Envizions, a small upstart company in Alabama, has announced they will be shipping the Evo 2, an Android-based gaming console, sometime in the fall.

The Android console will sport a 1.2GHz Samsung processor, a "modified" version of Android 2.2, a game controller, and a TV remote control. There are plans to add a motion sensor a la Wii later in the year.
The console will cost $249, and you will be able to purchase games with "Evo tokens" an online credit system. The Envizions store is accepting pre-orders for $15, and you can get a hold of a developer console for $149.

I don't know what to expect from Envizions; they don't have much of an established track record outside of a linux console release 2 years ago, but I really like the sound of Android making its way onto other platforms.

No word on the naming similarity to our beloved HTC Evos.

I scoured the internet looking for any information on their previous system that they created however it seems it was not that popular. I would have loved to see someone review that system, but I'm guessing they are a "needles in the haystack".I believe that this time around though the Evo 2 will have more success with such a large HTC user-base.

This isn't a mobile device and isn't an HTC product. I feel you guys might have missed that. Reportedly, Envizions' first Evo "sold out". I don't know what that means; I certainly never knew anyone who bought one. They seem to be a pretty small operation, but they are going to get a lot of press with the name and the use of Android for gaming.

Yeah. If Apple sued Amazon over using "App Store", I don't see how this one doesn't go to court.
Who knows, maybe this company registered the trademark years before HTC, but an Evo-Android system, come on!

I don't know about this. I think Microsoft, PlayStation and Nintendo dominate the market so there's probably not a lot of room for Android. Plus I don't really see it doing anything unique.

My mistake... I saw the word "Evo" and made an illegimate connection, I really thought this was an HTC product it would have been cool if it was though.

Well this is a good idea but isn't it a little hard to play games that are touch screens and those with accelerometers? I really haven't played in an emulator before so I really have no idea what to expect.
