[How To] Increase Internet Speed on Evo 3D

The steps below allow you to remove the proxy that Sprint uses by default. Taking out one link in your connection chain should give you a little extra speed. You are going to need your MSL. There are some slightly risky ways to find this yourself, but the easiest is to just call Sprint. You can tell them that you did not activate the phone in the store and they will walk you through the activation process which will include giving you the MSL number. Alternatively, you can just ask for it directly. Many users have reported success just asking directly for the MSL.

How to Speed Up Connection Speeds on your Evo 3D

    1. Call Sprint to get your MSL
    2. Enter this into your phone: ##3282#
    3. Select "Edit Mode"
    4. Select "Advanced"
    5. Scroll down until your find "RTSP/HTTP Setting"
    6. Delete the RTSP proxy IP or change it to 0.0.0.0
    7. Change RTSP proxy Port to 0
    8. Delete the HTTP proxy IP or change it to 0.0.0.0
    9. Change the HTTP proxy port to 0

    Enjoy enhanced download speeds!

If this operates like the EVO 4G, which it seems like it does, if the phone is rooted, you might/should be able to use the MSL Reader app to get your MSL code instead of calling your carrier, as described by this post on GoodandEvo.net

You're probably right. Unfortunately, almost no one is able to root the Evo 3D yet. Once HTC gets around to unlocking the bootloader, MSL Reader should do the trick.

This also works on the EVO 4G. My 3G speeds are still ugly, though. Only about 400 kbps down and 200 kbps up. Just not in a good area.
HTC EVO • SOS X ROM
    B&N Nook Color • CM7 [7.03 encore] ROM
HTC EVO Shift • Synergy ROM
Samsung Galaxy Prevail • Nemesis 1.3 ROM
LG 500G • Stock (backup phone)

You're right. I've done this with my 4G as well, but if I'm in a crappy area, the speed is still crappy. However, in a good area I routinely get about 1 meg down.

I don't have an EVO 3D, just the regular EVO, but if the 3D works the same way as the EVO does, there is a pop up after you dial ##3282# where it asks for a "password." This "password" is the MSL number. Here is a screenshot from the EVO:
