    1080p on Rooted Evo 3D?

Hey all. I'm a soon-to-be Apple defector on June 24th when the 3D is released. I'm brand new to the android world and know very little about it.

Like many, I'm disappointed by the lack of 1080p support on the Evo 3D. I've hacked my iPhone 3Gs to shoot 720p 4:3 video instead of 480p 4:3. Is there any possibility that the Evo 3D could be hacked to shoot 1080p like I've done with my iPhone? Obviously the power is there.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

    Way to go !

Ive read different articles saying the bootloader on the 3D is shipping unlocked
and Ive also read that it will be locked
I dont think anyone knows for sure yet on full root

Im still picking up the 3D with faith that they will be able to crack it !

Ok First of all wanted to say, you cant shoot 720p on the 3GS, i just made the switch from aple to. A Year of my friend who manages the sprint store finally cured my iPhone envy with a new E3D! Matter of fact 28 bucks and i got it with no deposit down and no activation fee! but the point is ive jsut switched from a 3GS, there is no hack that makes you shoot in 720p. Hardware limitations are in place, meaning the hardware is the same. Those software "hacks" are gimmicks. Just like the CPU OC for the iPhone, all a placebo. One app says one thing but really the "root" of the phone is not lying. And I am a, or was an apple fanboy till I realized they keep pushing the same crap out an make really pay for it in your wallet. And Second AT&t, pshh dont get me started! just we'll say I get way more at sprint for less. But three days into evo 3d, already got a permatemp root and got the proxy an HTTP settings custom to make the 3g faster, which speed test almost doubled! point is don't go back to iOS, I always had a nay say about Android, now hands down iPhone envy cured and im not looking back. I sold my mint condition, modded and jailbroken 3GS for 275 and later dont wanna hear from it again. But I still jailbreak an mod in my electronic repair shop as much as i dont want to touch another one! lol. So please dont bost your ego in front of these guys with your "720p mod" This is the first ever forum I made a membership for! Just to respond to that! evoforum you popped me forum cherry! haha O and read the specs on the evo before posting it will save you the headache of waiting for a reply and save these guys from using the best friend inthe whole world... "Google" 2D - 1080p@24fps 3D - 720p@30fps.. O and i love that i can now out my java an flash skills to use with android, and let alone not have to invest 1400$ to be a DEV, and thats building a hackintosh! not for the macbook and dev tools and subscription fees! Like really apple? Make my dream of contributing to the app world just a thought only in my dreams bc you like to think with your wallets and not the cunsumer level? Apple - 0, Android - (too many numbers to type) Step it up apple!! No really dont, just lay there at the more superior phones have the spotlight.

Actually, do a little research before you go around beating people down with your 2nd grade grammar and poor spelling/typing skills.

How to Enable-Activate 720p HD video recording on iPhone 3GS

Its common knowledge now that you can hack the 3Gs to shoot 720p. I still shoot video with my 3Gs due to it's higher quality output compared to the Evo 3D... for now...

    ANYWAYS

I'm working on a back-door for this now that I've rooted.

I found the settings for the camera in the /system/etc/media_profiles.xml file. The file seems to include settings for all the different resolutions and quality/send settings within the camera app. The first changes I made caused the app to fail at launch. I discovered that a reboot of the phone is not necessary between changes of the .xml file. Simply closing the camera app and re-opening it does the job. I restored my backup and the camera came up fine. Thanks to Root Explorer for auto-backing up any edited files

I edited the VideoEncoderCap name=”m4v” code from 720p to 1080p resolutions, but in testing the resolutions remained at 720p. It would seem the app is an HTC app and that the settings might be found directly within the camera app itself.

I'll update if I find more.
