If I sync my facebook using Sense, and then un-sync it, do the contact pictures still stay on?

I don't think it will. I actually had to remove my Facebook account to have the contacts un-sync. Just remember that after adding the account again, disable the 'sync contact' right away.

Well, all I really want is pictures for my contacts, and I guess the best place for the photos is Facebook. Is there any easier way to do this?
I don't want to really use Sense with Facebook, I prefer the Android app for it.

You could manually store pictures on the SD card. After taking a picture or receiving a pic from your contact, long-tap on it to get a menu with 'set as' option. Select your contact icon, and you are done.

Sounds a tad tedious, does it not?
