    Question about the phone app...

I am new to EVO and Android for that matter. I got my first Android about a week ago, a convert from BB.

    Anyway...i had a question about a setting...

I'd like to preface this message by saying, once again, i am new to Android and HTC, so if i sound condescending, that is not my intention. I need to know what i was talking about when i return to this forum. Also, i did do a search for this topic and did not come up with any hits.

    To the question...

Under the "telephone" app of the phone is an option to "Add unknown numbers to People after call" I have checked this and unckecked this both times receiving calls from unknown numbers in between. I took calls and dismissed calls as an experiment under each setting. At no time was any unknown number added to People. Through various manipulations i was given the option to add the number to contacts as an existing contact or new contact, again under both settings.

My question is, what function does this setting serve? I don't want to be caught off guard one day in the very near future out of memory because a bunch of unknowns were automatically added to People or my contacts or wherever.

I thought the setting will trigger a popup asking you to add the number to a contact list after receiving a call from a number you don't have stored yet. I am not sure why you are getting the popup under both settings.
